Northallerton

Northallerton, the county town of North Yorkshire, is a very pleasant market town in the northern part of the Vale of York, between the North York Moors and the Dales. There are excellent recreational facilities and it is within easy reach of the urban centres of York, Leeds, Teesside and Newcastle.  The town is on the main East Coast London to Edinburgh railway line and is close to the Al and Al9 trunk roads.   Durham Tees Valley, Newcastle and Leeds Bradford airports are all easily accessible. 

Northallerton district is predominantly rural area with excellent schools and lovely villages in which many of our registrars choose to live.

Leisure and retail

Within the town, three major UK supermarkets can be found - Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda. There is also an M&S Simply Food on the High Street. The northern part of Northallerton is a developing area in retail with a large Homebase, Halfords and Wickes. The long High Street provides a wide variety of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. There are national retailers such as Costa Coffee, Pizza Express, New Look, Wilkinsons and Waterstones mixed with local independent or regional retailers.  Northallerton is the home of the famous Bettys tearooms, Lewis & Cooper delicatessen and Barkers department store.
