Performers List

Important update for GP registrars applying to join the Performers List in August 2017

All performers who wish to practice in the NHS need to be added to the National Performers List. The list provides an extra layer of reassurance for the public that GPs practicing in the NHS are suitably qualified, have up to date training, have appropriate English language skills and have passed other relevant checks.

NHS England and Health Education are currently seeking an amendment to legislation that will change the way GP registrars are included on the performers list. In the meantime, GP trainees commencing their registrar placements between February and July 2017 (inclusive) will not need to complete and submit an application form (NPL1).

Health Education England (HEE) will supply NHS England with details of all trainees who will need to be added to the list in February. NHS England will confirm their inclusion to Primary Care Support England (PCSE) who will then add these trainees to the performers list, and will notify each trainee once this has happened. Please can you ensure your Deanery holds an up to date email address for you, as this will be used by PCSE to confirm your inclusion on the performers list.

Addition onto the performer’s list website and other required notifications will then be confirmed formally in a letter to you, once all relevant systems have been updated.

If you have any queries about joining the National Performers List, please speak to your deanery or go to www.performer.england.nhs.uk/.
